The sagging of the upper and/or lower eyelids—a condition known as ptosis—can adversely impact your vision as well as your appearance. Blepharoplasty may be performed on both your upper and lower eyelids, to achieve a rejuvenated look as well as improved field of vision.
Patients who may benefit from eyelid surgery typically experience:
- Loose skin that conceals the fold along the upper eyelids
- Excess skin or fat that droops from the upper eyelids
- Puffy upper and/or lower eyelids
- Excess skin or fat along the lower eyelids
Good candidates for blepharoplasty include those with one or more of the above symptoms and who:
- Are in good overall physical and mental health
- Have realistic expectations about eyelid surgery
- Do not smoke
- Are free of certain medical conditions including glaucoma
