What Rhinoplasty Corrects
Dr. Chatson can use rhinoplasty to improve, enhance, or adjust the following:
- Nose size
- Nose width
- Humps and bumps
- Nose slope
- Nose direction and position
- Nasal asymmetry
- Nasal tip shape and position
During your initial consultation with Dr. Chatson, nasal structures such as bone, cartilage, subcutaneous tissue, and skin will be carefully assessed. All of these sections can be modified to provide you with a pleasing, and natural-looking nasal shape and size.
Am I a Candidate?
Many men and women are born with noses that do not ideally match their facial features. Others, either through trauma or aging, have noticed changes in the shape or size of their nose, and no longer feel comfortable with its appearance.
No matter the reason for your dissatisfaction, rhinoplasty can be used to restore symmetry and provide balance between your nose and the rest of your face. Contact us today and schedule your consultation to learn more.
Rhinoplasty Surgical Options
Because each nose is unique and no single procedure is ideal for every patient, Dr. Chatson offers both open and closed rhinoplasty procedures. This further enables him to tailor your procedure to meet your exact needs.
There are two possible rhinoplasty procedures:
- Open Rhinoplasty:. With open rhinoplasty, an incision is made on the skin between the nostrils
- Closed rhinoplasty:. With closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made on the inside of your nostrils
Rhinoplasty incisions are based on several factors unique to the anatomy of the patient. The incisions that are best for your procedure will depend on the extent of surgical alterations necessary to help you achieve your desired look. During your consultation, Dr. Chatson will provide you with upfront information about your options and their likely outcomes to help you choose the technique you feel is best for your needs.
Does Open Rhinoplasty Leave a Scar?
When incisions are made on the outside of the nose, some scarring may be present after surgery. These scars are usually very inconspicuous and will fade over time. When compared to the symmetry and beauty a perfectly sculpted nose can provide to your entire face, this is most often a small concern.
Dr. Chatson is a board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon who takes time to plan and perform rhinoplasty using the safest techniques while still producing the most aesthetically pleasing results. When open rhinoplasty is required, special care is taken to reduce visible scarring in the operating room. Your commitment to following pre and post-surgical instructions will play a large role in this as well.
Some mild pain, swelling, and bruising is common after nose surgery. Pain is generally very mild and can be controlled with the use of medications prescribed by our office. Swelling can be controlled with cold compresses, head elevation, and rest. Bruising will subside on its own within a couple of weeks.
You should be able to return to work within 10 days, but will need to avoid strenuous activities for three to four weeks. Activities that could result in nose trauma or irritation should be avoided for a few months. Dr. Chatson will work with you during this time to help ensure you are healing properly, and to advise you when it is safe to resume all of your activities.
Results from your procedure will be visible immediately, becoming more pronounced as swelling and bruising subside. Final results should be fully apparent within four months and will last for a lifetime.
