Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day) is October 21st, giving us the perfect opportunity to discuss the importance of yearly mammograms and the right of cancer survivors to seek reconstructive surgery following mastectomy. Board-certified Salem plastic surgeon Dr. George Chatson strongly supports BRA Day and welcomes any questions post-mastectomy and post-lumpectomy patients may have regarding breast reconstruction – including insurance payments and similarly practical concerns. Please call us at 603-882-2103 to schedule a consultation and learn more.
Annual Mammograms Matter
Over 240,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 60,000 in situ cases are diagnosed every year. 85% of these cases occur in women with no family history of the disease and tragically, more than 41,000 women die every year due to delayed diagnosis. If you are over the age of 45, annual mammograms are essential, even if you don’t have a family history of breast cancer.
Women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are entitled to breast reconstruction surgery through most insurance plans. If you are preparing to undergo mastectomy, Dr. Chatson can work directly with your oncologist to ensure you are provided treatment at the least invasive and most beneficial time. If you have questions or would like to speak directly with Dr. Chatson about breast reconstruction, please contact us today. Appointments can also be made by calling our Nashua, NH office at 603-882-2103 or our Andover, Massachusetts office at 978-687-1151.
