Cellulite is a subcutaneous fat that causes skin to look lumpy or uneven. It can occur at nearly any stage of adulthood and is not necessarily related to weight fluctuations. This means that even people who have never been overweight may have cellulite.
Liposuction works on deep layers of fatty tissue, removing stubborn deposits to produce a more contoured look. However, even advanced methods such as Smartlipo™ are not typically effective at reducing cellulite.
There are some nonsurgical treatments that can help reduce cellulite, though results tend to vary widely. Other methods for cellulite reduction include massage, spa treatments, injectable solutions, and topical creams. Andover plastic surgeon Dr. George Chatson would be happy to discuss these methods with you in more detail during your body contouring consultation.
Smartlipo cannot treat cellulite, but it can eliminate stubborn deposits of deep fatty tissue from nearly any area of your body. A faster, safer, and more effective liposuction technique, Smartlipo is capable of delivering remarkable results and is the ideal treatment option for many of our patients. During your consultation Dr. Chatson will listen to your goals, assess your frame, and help you determine if Smartlipo is the right option for you.
